Good meowning! It’s raining unfortunately today, meow! It’s been almost two weeks since my surgery, and I’m completely back to my energetic self! This time, I accidentally ate a joint mat while playing, which caused the problem. Cats have narrow digestive tracts, so even small foreign objects can cause blockages. If the object can be coughed up, that’s great, but if it passes the stomach exit like mine did, it can get stuck in narrower passages further along. When something gets stuck, food and digestive fluids can’t pass through, leading to frequent vomiting. If your cat at home vomits more than four times and refuses water, it’s best to take them to the vet immediately. An ultrasound can quickly determine if there’s a blockage, and if so, they can perform surgery right away!
The best scenario is to go to the vet as soon as you realize your cat has ingested something they shouldn’t have. They can use an endoscope to remove the foreign object from the stomach. Sometimes cats might ingest something without you knowing, so if they seem different or are vomiting a lot, don’t hesitate to visit the vet. I was fortunate to go to the hospital quickly this time and got help. Mom is now desperately taking precautions to prevent any accidental ingestion again. I’m also being careful not to eat anything I shouldn’t!
